The next time the 508 will be on display is at the Paris Motor Show later this year.

While Europe can expect to see the new Peugeot 508 in the beginning of 2011, South African consumers can expect to pick it up some time in the middle of 2011. The car is being produced in France for the European market as well as China for the rest of the world production. The 508 will be released in both a sedan model as well as a station wagon.

As for the car itself, Peugeot note that the suspension was designed with a high level of comfort and road holding in mind. The interior has been maxed out for space and likewise, the boot also has a generous size. As with seemingly all new cars these days, in order to achieve an impressive environmental performance, the car has been made aerodynamic, the weight has been optimized and the engine has been tuned for minimum environmental impact.

At a later stage a hybrid version of the 508 will be released which will feature an impressive 99g/km emission rating and obviously 0g/km when in electric mode. The launch version will feature the e-HDi system which gives the car new start and stop technology to further improve driveability and economy.

For 200 years, Peugeot has uniquely combined emotion and the pursuit of perfection in all its activities. This twofold

approach is in the Marque’s genes.

For example Peugeot has combined:

* Wood and steel to create its first peppermills,

* The saloon and diesel to democratize progress,

* The coupé and the cabriolet to invent the coupé-cabriolet segment and become its leader,

* The saloon and the SUV to launch the 3008,

* Diesel and electric to pioneer the diesel hybrid,

* The saloon and the scooter to develop the BB1.

Peugeot is a unique alliance of the pursuit of perfection and emotion. Peugeot’s aim is to ensure that emotion is always

at the heart of the motoring experience: a Peugeot will never be purely functional.

A NEW SIGNATURE

To broadcast and illustrate its brand project around the world, Peugeot is taking on a new international

claim:

The Lion, associated with Peugeot since 1858, is changing. Created by Peugeot designers, the Lion on the radiator

grille:

* Is simpler in its design,

* More dynamic, with a new posture and a new fluidity,

* Creates a bimetallic effect through the contrast of its mat/lustrous finish.

This Lion is also the Marque’s new logo:

* Three-dimensional for greater modernity,

* It discards its blue flag for a more forceful effect,

* The Peugeot blue becomes darker and is now combined with the new typography of the Marque’s name.

The first vehicle to display the new Lion is the Peugeot RCZ which will be launched in the spring of 2010.

Peugeot, the pioneer and 1st worldwide manufacturer of electric vehicles will be launching the ion at the end of 2010. Its performance and 130 km operating range is obtained in particular due to the use of lithium-ion batteries, which will provide an efficient response to the challenges of urban mobility and respect for the environment.

With the ion, which will be presented to the world for the 1st time at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Peugeot is incorporating the latest automotive edition into its model range.

With the 106 produced between 1995 and 2003, Peugeot, the pioneer in electric vehicles, remains to this day the manufacturer having sold the most “zero-emissions” cars in the world.

Lithium-ion batteries rechargeable in six hours and 80% recharged within thirty minutes

The town will therefore be the favourite playground of the iOn. With four doors and four seats, a length of 3.48 m and a turning circle of 4.50 m, this all-electric Peugeot vehicle will develop a maximum power output of 47 kW (64 bhp) and a torque of 180 Nm, thus offering reliable levels of performance (maximum speed of 130 km/h). Equipped with a totally comfortable operating range (130 km standard European cycle), the lithium-ion car batteries are rechargeable in six hours using a conventional 220 V socket or recharged to 80% capacity within thirty minutes, thanks to its fast charging system.

These specifications allow this “zero-emission” city car to offer a good level of versatility, comparable in performance and comfort to a small conventional combustion engine vehicle.
