The most impressive statistic being that the 2011 Hyundai Elantra has the best in-class standard fuel economy, an improvement of 18% over the previous model. The fuel economy clocks in at 29mpg city and 40mpg highway, which makes it better than the 2010 Corolla, the 2011 Honda Civic and the 2011 Ford Focus. Added to this is the fact that the 2011 Elantra is cheaper than the Cruze and Focus, two of its main competitors.

The 2011 Hyundai Elantra comes standard with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission and a 1.8 litre Nu engine. The vehicle arrives in United States dealerships before the end of the year and we await further information on a local release date and pricing.

Hyundai have released details on their new 2011 Elantra. The Elantra, which is known in Korea as the Avante is already on sale and can be expected to hit overseas markets by the end of 2010. Previous generations of the Elantra have been a huge sales success for Hyundai and they hope to see continued success with the next generation, as Hyundai note the Elantra/Avante is one of their most important models.

These stats do refer to the Avante and could possible change when the Elantra hits overseas markets. Looks-wise, Hyundai have designed the 2011 Elantra with the term “Wind-craft” in mind. They mention that the term refers to the flowing movement of air and artistic sculpture used in the design of the front grille and swept-back headlamps. The design influence continues to the interior, which has a “wind-blown” shape for the center console and futuristic design elements throughout. Talking of the interior, the cabin space has been increased by 18 liters compared to the previous model.

The 2011 Hyundai Elantra will be powered by a 4-cylinder 1.6 liter Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine which helps the Elantra to complete the 0-100km/h in 10.4s. As always, fuel efficiency has been a huge concern for the manufacturer and in the 2011 model it has further been reduced, even though power has been improved thanks to the new GDI engine. The fuel efficiency is further improved by the 6-speed automatic SHIFTRONIC gear box or a standard 6-speed manual. The fuel economy has been improved by 8% to 16.5km/l compared to the previous model Elantra and is now about 10% more fuel efficient than its nearest competitors.

Look for further details on a South African release date of the 2011 Hyundai Elantra.

- Hyundai’s sixth-generation Sonata encompasses new `fluidic sculpture’ design philosophy
- Features 2.0 Theta II MPi engine, 6-speed automatic transmission

(Seoul, Korea) Hyundai Motor Company’s all-new Sonata, being introduced today, is expected to shake up the world’s mid-size sedan market with its daring design.

The 2010 Sonata adopts Hyundais new “fluidic sculpture” design language, boasts outstanding performance with the segment-leading safety features and fuel efficiency. Incorporating state-of-the-art technologies, the new Sonata will further elevate the Hyundai brand.

Hyundai began developing the new Sonata in 2005 under the codename YF (Note: The car may be launched under a different name in some regions). The project took 4 years and 450 billion won (US$ 372 million*) to go from concept to customer.

Although it is a completely new vehicle, Hyundai is retaining the Sonata name as the mid-size car has been Korea’s most popular sedan. Applying a new design aesthetic of “fluidic sculpture,” the 2010 Sonata pursues a younger and sensuous image in its interior and exterior profiles. Inspired by nature, the “fluidic sculpture” tries to reflect sophistication and dynamism in the shape of the vehicle and will serve as the core of Hyundai’s future design identity.

The outer design of the new Sonata exudes a voluminous look that creates character through the refined and harmonized lines. The interior has a dynamic look that matches the exterior while not compromising comfort or convenience. The Sonata is available in nine exterior colors, from Remington Red to Blue Black to Espresso, satisfying the diverse tastes of younger customers.
